Brisbane hotels, Brisbane accommodation

For years I’d saved up to visit Australia. Before I had even finished college I was saving, and well, maybe I was dreaming of saving more than actually saving, but the point is that I was really looking forward to my trip to the land down under. Of course the fact that I’d been saving so long put me in a mindset that I wanted to do as much as possible while spending as little as possible. With that said here’s my tale of arriving in Brisbane and trying to suss out which of the Brisbane hotels was the cheapest deal without putting me too far away from all the things I wanted to see.
Sorting out airlines is a lot easier now that web sites such as Orbitz and Travelocity allow one to search multiple carriers in one easy search. Thankfully the airfare part of the trip planning is substantially easier than selecting the Brisbane accommodation that is best suited to your needs. There are so many options to choose from that it can be overwhelming, but thankfully there are numerous web sites which allow one to shop for packages of airfare and hotels. Now all we need is a web site that can bundle those with a rental car, train tickets, and local attractions all at a discount.
When I visited, however, it was still on me to find a quality Brisbane hotel, but my search was made easier by a friend of a friend who was a travel agent. This actually turned out to be a lucky break in both ways because she was able to compile a list of things to do in the cities I planned on visiting.
Being an outdoorsy sort, I decided on visiting the South Bank Parklands and Brisbane Botanic Gardens for my first day out. Both sites are astoundingly gorgeous and flush with locations that are ideal for wildlife photographers. Many visitors to Australia have noted over the years the splendid wildlife, and it really isn’t possible to properly put into words. It simply has to be seen to be believed, and even the best photographs that the best professional photographers pale in comparison to the real thing.
For the second day I was interested in finding areas of historic interest. I visited St. Helena Island, which has the ruins of a prison that reminded me a lot of a visit to Alcatraz in some ways. Seeing how Australians used to treat their criminals kept me on my best behavior for the rest of my trip!
